Evaluation As Per OCR Specifications

Q1.In what ways does you media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Ans.My media product uses, develops and challenges the forms and conventions of real media products. My video portrayed what was actually going on through expressions and commentary. There is some relationship between the music and the visuals, other than this there are no other conventions of real music videos in my movie.

Q2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Ans.I tried to keep the theme of the ancillary tasks the same as the theme from the video. I achieved this by; firstly as my movie is based on bunking in school I started the movie with the view of the school including the back gate and the parking lot so as to familiarize the viewer with the whole school. After this I focused each group to let the audience have a view of the two main groups in the movie. Then I showed each group attending their classes at the beginning of the session. Since the audience is now aware of the two groups, hence now I came to the main theme of the movie and focused each group’s reason for bunking. For example the first group is shown to be having fun at the back ally and the second group is shown to be in the library trying to complete their work, which they could not complete at home due to lack of sleep and excessive usage of computer which mainly included using social networking sites. Lastly both groups are shown getting caught by one of the school teacher’s and are taken to the principal’s office where they are scolded for their actions. The final result being, that the ones who promised to come back in class are quite comfortable giving their exam but the ones who still did not obey are shown to be tensed.

Q3.What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Ans. After I showed all my friends and teachers my movie, I was happy to know that all of them liked it and they praised the work I had put into the making of this movie. Hence the first thing that I learned from the feedback of my audience was that, if one puts in hard work and does ones work with dedication, people will always appreciate you.

Some of the audience members said that the flow in some of the shots of the movie could be smoother. From this I learned that, next time I make a movie, I need to ensure that, my camera should be even steadier, so that all the shots are more perfect.

Another feedback I got from my audience was that, some of the audience member felt that if my voice in the commentary was heavier it would be better. On the other hand, some other audience members said that they liked my voice in the commentary and said that it should not be heavier. From this I learned that, when you have a large audience, there are bound to be different opinions, hence one should take into account the audience feedback but not completely follow it. In fact one should do what one likes, incorporating the feedback as far as one deems fits in their next project.

Q4.How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Ans. The main media technology used by me was a video camera through which I shot the whole movie. While using the camera I learnt a lot about how to use a camera, using different camera angles. I had to take a lot of shots of the same scene to get a perfect one without the camera being shaky. Secondly my video clips were of MPEG format which stands for Moving Pictures Expert Group. This format is not supported by the editing software, Adobe Premier, so I had to use a 4Media MP4 convertor which helped me in converting my MPEG files to MP4 format. This convertor was armed with a user-friendly interface and fast speed, which made MPEG to MP4 conversion quite simple. As a result the quality of the output file was very high as well.

After the conversion I imported all my files on Adobe Premier and by using the razor tool I edited by movie scenes removing the unwanted part and making it in a sequence.

I used a sound recorder to record the commentary of my movie. I then imported the commentary file on Adobe Premier and one again using the razor tool I edited the commentary, in a way that it fitted with the video.

Using the internet I searched for a good song. After downloading and listening to a few songs I finally selected a song which was more or less, the most closely related to my movie. I imported the song on Adobe premier and edited it, so that it would match properly with the movie and commentary.
